With a 405 grain bullet, 20 grains of Alliant 2400 will give up to 1400 fps. Play safe with 500 grains. With IMR 3031, 38 grains is a good load and will give you at least 1330 fps and some nerve and joint damage in a light rifle. For the 405 gr bullet I use 38 gr of 3031. For the 500 gr I use 31 4198.

There are a wide variety of options. With a 405 grain bullet, 20 grains of Alliant 2400 will give up to 1400 fps. Play safe with 500 grains. With IMR 3031, 38 grains is a good load and will give you at least 1330 fps and some nerve and joint damage in a light rifle. For the 405 gr bullet I use 38 gr of 3031. For the 500 gr I use 31 4198.Nobody wants to touch this one. 700X is a very fast pistol powder and is totally unsuitable for rifle cartridges except for speciality loads by an advanced handloader.
