I also used the mechanical switch and haven't looked back, on three jeeps ,always works! There are several previous threads about the mechanical switch conversion. Compared to the two MDJ tailgates I have bought, both brands were well made but the SGI tailgate fits the stock hinges, while I had to grind down the hinge pins on both of the MDJ versions.
