Want training speed shoe but also race shorter distance - Takumi. The Takumi Sen 9 and the Boston 12 are extremely different running shoes. The Takumi Sen is a fast and light racer shoe designed mainly for 5K to 10K (you can use it for up to Half Marathon distances), the Boston is heavier and chunkier daily trainer designed for longer distances.

The Sen 8 felt a little long in 9 but locked down good with the last loop because of the narrowness at midfoot. The Adios Pro 2 feels pretty good in a 9 but also a touch long. It feels a little snug over the forefoot in an 8.5 at first but the length felt good for racing and then it stretched out a little to feel real nice. I usually like a light minimal shoe that doesn't have a massive stack height and is fast. My one concern is that the durability of the Takumi Sen 8 might not be as good as the Adios 6 as a daily trainer all rounder.
