Titan-EX is really the hardest of the 3 EX primals but Ifrit is the last one to unlock, so I'm guessing if there are differences in the drop rate, the rate would increase more for later primals in the chain. Nightmare can drop from unsynced runs, yes. People do tank only runs of garuda often enough that you should hop into one of those. Farm for tank mount as well as nightmare. People still do unsync pony farms, and if its ifrit garuda or titan then you have a shot of nightmare drops in addition to their personalized ponies.

I wouldn't say it's increased. Pony drop rate is about 20-25% on average from what we've experienced. RNG is RNG, Streaks happen.
